How to Configure Shipping Details (Weight, Dimensions, HS Code)?

Written by Support

Overview:
If you sell physical products online, calculating accurate shipping rates is essential for your profit margins. Eaglecart allows you to define the exact weight, dimensions, and international shipping codes (HS Codes) for every single item in your store.

Here is how to ensure your shipping rates are calculated perfectly at checkout.

Step 1: Defining Weight and Dimensions

Scroll down to the Type & Shipping section of your product page.

  1. Ensure the box next to "This is a physical product" is checked. (If you are selling a digital download or service, uncheck this box, and no shipping will be charged).

  2. Weight: Enter the exact weight of the product in the first box, and select the correct unit of measurement (e.g., kg, g, lb, oz) from the dropdown menu. This is crucial if your shipping rates are based on total cart weight.

  3. Dimensions (L x W x H): For large or irregularly shaped items, couriers often charge by "dimensional weight" rather than actual weight. Enter the Length, Width, and Height of the packaged item, and select the unit (e.g., cm, in).

Step 2: International Shipping (HS Codes & Origin)

If you sell to customers outside of your country, customs agencies require specific information to process the package and calculate import duties or taxes. Eaglecart has this built right in!

  1. Country of Origin: Use the dropdown menu to select the country where the product was manufactured or assembled.

  2. Harmonized System (HS) Code: Every physical product in the world has an international 6-digit classification code (e.g., Handbags are 4202.21).

    • If you know the code, type it directly into the box.

    • If you don't know it, you can simply type a keyword like "Handbag" into the search bar, and Eaglecart will help you find the correct international code!
