How to Set Up Product Pricing, Inventory, & Barcodes?

Written by Support

Overview:
To run a profitable store, you need to accurately track how much you charge for a product, how much it costs you, and how many items you have in stock across your different store locations. Eaglecart makes this easy with built-in profit calculators and multi-location inventory tracking.

Here is how to configure pricing, stock levels, and scannable barcodes for your physical products.

Step 1: Set Your Pricing and Profit Margins

Scroll down to the Pricing section of your product (or variant) settings. Eaglecart automatically calculates your profit so you always know your margins!

  1. Price: Enter the actual selling price the customer will pay (e.g., AED 52.00).

  2. Original Price (Sale/Promotion): If this item is on sale, enter the higher original price here (e.g., AED 89.00). This will show up crossed out on your website to highlight the discount!

  3. Cost per item: Enter how much you paid your supplier for this item (e.g., AED 24.90).

  4. Profit & Margin: Once you enter your Price and Cost, the system will automatically calculate your exact profit and profit margin percentage.

Step 2: Manage Inventory and Stock Locations

Eaglecart allows you to track stock across multiple physical locations (like your main warehouse and different retail stores).

Scroll down to the Inventory section:

  1. Track Quantity: Turn this toggle ON if you want the system to count exactly how many items you have left. (If you leave it off, the item will never run out of stock).

  2. Continue selling when out of stock: Check this box if you want to allow customers to keep buying the item even if the quantity hits zero (great for backorders or pre-orders).

  3. Add quantity by location: You will see a list of your created locations (e.g., Industrial area no 11). Type the exact number of items you currently have sitting in that specific location.

Step 3: Add SKUs and Scannable Barcodes

To make checking out customers at your POS fast and accurate, you should assign SKUs and Barcodes to your products.

  • SKU (Stock Keeping Unit): Enter your internal tracking code for the item (e.g., H33-1).

  • Barcode (UPC, EAN, ISBN, etc.): If the item already has a barcode from the manufacturer, use your scanner to scan it directly into this box, or type the number manually.

Print Your Own Barcodes:
If you manufacture your own items or the product does not have a barcode, Eaglecart can generate one for you!

  1. Save your product with a barcode number.

  2. Click the Action menu at the top right of the screen.

  3. Click Download barcode.

  4. You can now print this barcode on a label printer and paste it directly onto your physical items to scan at your POS!
