A Step-by-Step Guide

Hello there! Are you ready to start selling digital goods like e-books, software, music, or design assets? You've come to the right place. Our platform makes it incredibly easy and secure to sell digital products right alongside your physical items.

This guide will walk you through the entire process from start to finish. Think of it as a simple, three-part journey:

  1. First, we'll upload the file itself. This is the actual e-book or software you want to sell.

  2. Next, we'll create the product page. This is the "storefront" for your digital item that customers will see and purchase.

  3. Finally, we'll set the delivery rules. This tells the system exactly when to give your customer their download link.

Let's dive in!

Part 1: Uploading Your Digital File

Before you can sell anything, you need to get your file into the system. This is where you upload the file and give it a name and any special settings it might need.

Navigation Path: In your dashboard menu on the left, navigate to Products > Digital Downloads.

Step 1: Get to the Starting Line

Once you're on the main Digital Downloads page, you'll see a list of any files you've already uploaded. To begin, click the Add download button in the top-right corner.

Step 2: Describe Your File

You're now on the "Add Digital Download" page. Let's fill out the details:

  • Download name: This is an internal name for your file, so you can easily recognize it later. Your customers won't see this.

    • Example: The Ultimate SEO Guide - E-book

  • Download type: This is a crucial step. You have two choices for how your file is delivered:

1. Download file (Recommended): Choose this to upload your file directly to our secure servers. We'll handle the hosting and delivery for you. It's the simplest and most secure option.

2. Download link (3rd party): Choose this if your file is already hosted somewhere else, like on Google Drive or Dropbox. You'll simply paste the direct link to the file.

  • File: If you chose "Download file," you'll see an Upload button. Click it to select the file from your computer.

  • Mask: Think of this as a friendly disguise for your filename. It helps with security and looks more professional. Instead of a customer seeing a messy link like ebook_final_v3.pdf, you can set the mask to something clean like ultimate-seo-guide.pdf.

Step 3: Add Licenses (For Software and Unique Keys)

On the right-hand side of the page, you’ll find the Licenses section. This is a powerful feature for anyone selling software, video games, or any product that needs a unique key for each purchase.

  • How it works: Click Add license, paste in your list of unique keys (one per line), and click Save. Now, every time someone buys this product, the system will automatically assign them one of the unused keys from your list.

Step 4: Save Your File

Once you're happy with all the details, click the main Save button in the top-right corner.

Great job! Your file is now securely stored in the system, ready for the next step.

Part 2: Creating the Product to Sell Your File

Your file is uploaded, but it's not for sale yet. Now we need to create the actual product page that your customers will visit, add to their cart, and purchase.

Navigation Path: In the main menu, navigate to Products > Products.

  1. Click the Add product button to start a new product from scratch (or click on an existing product to edit it).

  2. Fill out all the usual product details: a catchy Name, a compelling Description, a fair Price, and upload some beautiful Media (product images or videos).

  3. Now for the most important step. Scroll down to the Type & Shipping section.

  4. In the Type dropdown menu, change the selection from "Physical" to Digital.

  5. Voilà! A new dropdown menu will appear right below it. Simply click it and select the digital file you uploaded in Part 1 (e.g., The Ultimate SEO Guide - E-book).

  6. Once everything looks good, click Save.

And that's it! Your digital product is now live on your storefront, looking great and ready for customers.

Part 3: Setting the Rules for Download Access

This is the final, crucial step. We need to tell the system when it's okay to give the customer their download link. These are store-wide rules that apply to all your digital products.

Navigation Path: Navigate back to Products > Digital Downloads and click the Settings button in the top-right corner.

A "Download settings" window will pop up. Here, you'll choose your delivery method from the Auto download dropdown.

Mode 1: "Yes (Auto available)" - The Instant Delivery Method

  • What it does: This is the simplest and most popular choice. The download link is made available to your customer immediately after their payment successfully goes through (i.e., when the payment status is "Paid").

  • Best for: Most digital goods like e-books, music, presets, or PDF guides. If you want happy customers who get their products instantly, this is the way to go.

Mode 2: "No (Manual availability)" - The Advanced Control Method

  • What it does: This mode gives you precise control. The download link will only be activated after the order meets all of the specific conditions you choose.

  • Best for: High-value software, situations where you want to manually check orders for fraud before delivery, or if a digital item is sold as part of a larger package.

  • You can set conditions based on:

    • Payment Status: For security, it is highly recommended you always set this to Paid.

    • Order Status: You could require an order to be "Confirmed" by you first.

    • Fulfillment Status: Useful if the download is part of a bundle with a physical item.
