The theme editor doesn't just edit one page — it edits templates. A template controls how a whole type of page looks, so when you design the Product template once, every product page follows that design. Eaglecart gives you separate templates for your Homepage, Product pages, and Collection pages, all edited in the same editor.
Why are there different page templates?
Each part of your store has a different job. Your homepage sells your brand and guides visitors in, a product page presents one item and its "Add to cart" flow, and a collection page lists a group of products. Editing them as templates means you design each layout once and it applies everywhere of that type.
How do I switch between templates?
Use the page selector dropdown at the top of the editor (it starts on Homepage). Open it and choose Homepage, Product, or Collection. The editor reloads to show that page, and the Sections panel on the left updates to show that template's building blocks.
What can I edit on the Homepage template?
The Homepage template holds the sections that make up your front page — for example, a Hero, Collection Products and Collection Grid sections to showcase items, a Features section, and an FAQ. You can add, reorder, and customise these to tell your store's story. (Working with sections is covered in the next article.)
What can I edit on the Product template?
The Product template centres on the Product Main section, which is built from blocks: Gallery, Title, Price, Variants, Custom options, Quantity & Add to cart, Description, and SKU. You arrange and configure these once, and every product page uses that layout — while each product's actual images, name, and price come from the product itself. You can also add other sections (like Collection Products) below it to recommend more items.
What about the Collection template?
The Collection template controls how a category/collection page displays its group of products. Select Collection from the page dropdown to edit it. Like the others, it uses the same Header → Template → Footer structure, so you customise its sections the same way.
Do the header and footer change per page?
No — your Header (and Announcement bar) and Footer are shared across every template. Edit them once and the change appears on every page of your store. Only the Template group in the middle differs from page to page.
How do I preview the Product template with a real item?
When editing the Product template, the right-hand settings panel has a Preview product search. Pick a product there to see the template filled with real content, so you're designing against an actual item rather than a blank layout.
FAQ
If I edit the header, does it change on every page?
Yes. The header, announcement bar, and footer are shared, so one edit updates them across your whole store.
Will editing the Product template change all my product pages? Yes — the template controls the layout for every product page. The individual text, images, and prices still come from each product's own details.
Which product shows in the editor while I design?
Whichever one you choose in Preview product. It's only for previewing and doesn't change the live template.
Where do I change my homepage sections?
On the Homepage template — switch to it with the page dropdown, then use the Sections panel. See Working with sections for the steps.
