Your theme controls how your entire online store looks — homepage, product pages, colours, fonts, and layout. In Eaglecart, all of this is managed from one place, and knowing how themes work lets you redesign with confidence without ever breaking your live store.
Where do I find my themes in Eaglecart? Go to Online store → Theme in the admin menu. This page is the home base for your live theme, your drafts, and the full theme library.
What is my "live theme"? Your live theme is the one customers see right now. It sits at the top of the Theme page with a green Live theme badge and its publish date. From here you can click Edit theme to open the editor, or View your online store (top right) to open your storefront in a new tab exactly as customers see it. Note: edits to your live theme go public the moment you save — so for bigger changes, work on a draft instead.
What are draft themes (My themes)? The My themes section lists draft themes that only you can see — customers never see them until you publish. This is your safe workspace for redesigns, seasonal looks, or testing a new layout. Use Search by theme name to find a draft; each one shows when it was added and last edited.
How do I duplicate a theme before making big changes? Open the … (more options) menu next to a theme and choose to duplicate it. The copy appears under My themes as "Copy of [theme name]" — for example, "Copy of Monelle." You then edit the copy while your live store stays untouched, and publish it only when you're happy. This is the recommended way to make major edits safely.
How do I edit a theme? Click Edit theme next to your live theme or any draft to open the theme editor, where you build and customise each page. (The editor is covered in The theme editor at a glance.)
How do I publish a theme so customers see it? Click Publish next to a draft to set it as your live theme. Because publishing replaces what customers currently see, keep a duplicate of your previous theme first so you always have a version to return to.
How do I add a new theme from the library? Scroll to Explore themes to browse ready-made themes designed by Eaglecart, each built for a different style of business. Click Add on any theme to place it in My themes as a draft. Adding a theme does not change your live store — you edit and publish it whenever you're ready.
FAQ
Will editing my live theme show to customers immediately?
Yes. Any change you save on the live theme is visible to customers right away. To avoid this, duplicate the theme and edit the copy instead.
Does adding a theme from the library replace my current store?
No. New themes are added as drafts under My themes. Your live store only changes when you click Publish.
Can I go back to a previous design after publishing?
Yes, if you kept a duplicate of the older theme under My themes — you can simply publish that copy again.
How do I preview my store without affecting it?
Use View your online store for the live version, or open any draft in the editor and use its preview.
