Overview:
Many of your products will come in different variations—like a t-shirt that comes in Small, Medium, and Large, or a handbag that comes in Black, Brown, and Red. Eaglecart’s powerful Variant engine allows you to automatically generate these combinations, assign specific images, and track inventory for every single size or color independently.
Here is how to set up product variants and advanced custom options.
Step 1: Adding Variant Options
If your product has variations, scroll down to the Variant section of the product creation page.
Click the + Add variant button.
In the first box (Variant name), type what kind of variation it is (e.g., Color).
In the second box (Variant value), type the specific options and press Enter after each one (e.g., type Red, press Enter, type Green, press Enter).
If the item also comes in different sizes, click Add another option and repeat the process (e.g., Variant name: Size, Variant values: Small, Medium).
Eaglecart will automatically generate a combination tree (matrix) below, showing every possible version of the product (e.g., Red Small, Red Medium, Green Small, Green Medium).
Step 2: Customizing and Tracking Each Variant
Once your combinations are generated, you can manage them individually! This is crucial if a Red Large bag costs more than a Black Small bag, or if you only have 5 Red bags left but 20 Black bags.
Scroll down to the generated Variant (Group by: Color) list:
Price & Cost: Enter the specific selling price and cost for each individual size/color combination.
Inventory Tracking: You can choose to Track quantity for specific variants, or leave it off if you have unlimited stock of that particular size.
Locations: Enter exactly how many items you have of that specific size and color at each of your store locations (e.g., Industrial area no 11: 5 items).
Step 3: Assigning Images to Variants
When a customer clicks "Red" on your website, the main product image should change to the Red bag.
On the left side of the Variants section, click on the specific color name (e.g., Red).
The details for that variant will open on the right side of the screen.
Click the empty Image box.
Select the specific photo of the Red bag from your uploaded media gallery.
Step 4: Advanced Custom Options
If your product needs even more complex choices beyond standard variants (e.g., asking the customer if they want the item "New," "Used," or "Refurbished," or asking them to type a custom engraving), use the Options section.
Scroll below the Variants to the Options section and click Add option.
Name: Give the option a title (e.g., Condition).
Type: Choose how the customer selects this option (e.g., Selection dropdown, Checkbox, Text field, etc.).
Choices & Pricing: Add the specific choices (e.g., New, Used, Refurbished). You can even add an extra charge to the product if they select a certain option (e.g., New: + AED 300).
You can add more than 6 custom options per product, allowing for highly complex variations!
