Overview:
Offering a quick discount or accepting promotional coupons is a great way to reward loyal customers, run in-store promotions, or close a sale. The Eaglecart POS makes it easy to apply both percentage-based discounts and specific promo codes directly from the checkout screen.
Here is how to apply discounts and coupons to a customer's order.
Step 1: Open the Discount Menu
Once you have added all the customer's items to the Current Order cart, look at the bottom right corner of the screen, just above the blue Checkout button.
Click or tap the white Discount button. This will open a pop-up window with two tabs: Discount and Coupon.
Step 2: Applying a Manual Discount
If you want to give the customer a manual price reduction, stay on the Discount tab.
You have two options here:
Quick Discount: Simply click the 10% or 20% buttons to instantly apply a standard percentage discount to the entire order.
Custom Discount: If you want to give a specific amount (like 15% off, or a flat amount off), click into the "Enter value" box under Custom Discount. Type your desired number, make sure the % or flat rate toggle is selected correctly, and click the blue Apply Custom Discount button.
Step 3: Applying a Coupon Code
If the customer has a specific promotional code (for example, from a marketing email or social media campaign), you will use the Coupon tab.
Inside the pop-up window, click the Coupon tab at the top right.
Click inside the "Enter value" box under Custom Coupon.
If you are using a tablet or touchscreen POS machine, a built-in on-screen keyboard will automatically appear at the bottom of the screen!
Type in the exact coupon code (e.g., "WINTERSALE20").
Click the blue Apply Coupon button.
The system will instantly verify the code and deduct the appropriate amount from the order's subtotal.
