Adding Custom Service Fees at Checkout

Eaglecart lets you add custom service fees at checkout for extra services like special handling or gift wrapping. The fee appears as a separate line item in the customer’s order summary before payment, ensuring full transparency

Why Use a Service Fee?

  • Cover Extra Costs: Charge for services that have a real cost to your business, such as gift wrapping materials, insurance, or special handling for fragile items.

  • Offer Premium Services: Provide optional, value-added services that customers can choose to pay for.

  • Transparency: Clearly separate the cost of your products from the cost of additional services, which builds trust with your customers.

Common examples include:

  • "Gift Wrapping Service"

  • "Handling Fee for Fragile Items"

  • "Packing Fee"

  • "Priority Processing"

How to Set Up a Service Fee

  1. From your Eaglecart admin dashboard, click on Settings in the bottom-left corner.

  2. From the Settings menu, click on Checkout.

  3. Scroll down to the "Service fee" section on the page.

    (Note: You will replace this with a real screenshot of the Service fee section in your UI.)

  4. Fill in the details for your fee:

    • Title: This is the name of the fee that your customers will see at checkout. Make it clear and descriptive (e.g., "Gift Wrapping").

    • Short description: Briefly explain what the fee is for. This text appears under the title. (e.g., "We will beautifully wrap your items in our signature gift paper.")

  5. Set the Fee Amount:
    You can charge the fee as a percentage of the total order value or as a fixed amount.

    • Percentage (%): The fee will be calculated based on the total value of the items in the cart. For example, a 5% fee on a 200 AED order would be 10 AED.

    • Fixed Amount: The fee will be a flat rate, regardless of the order total. For example, 15 AED.

  6. Set Minimum and Maximum Limits (Optional):
    You can control when the service fee is applied by setting limits on the fee amount itself.

    • Minimum amount: The lowest possible fee that will be charged.

    • Maximum amount: The highest possible fee that will be charged.

    • Example: If you set a 10% fee with a minimum of 5 AED and a maximum of 50 AED:

      • An order of 30 AED would have a 3 AED fee, but since the minimum is 5, the customer will be charged 5 AED.

      • An order of 700 AED would have a 70 AED fee, but since the maximum is 50, the customer will be charged 50 AED.

  7. Click the Save button in the top right corner.

Your custom service fee will now automatically be added to the checkout for all applicable orders.
